Prof. Xianjin Huang

  Huang Xianjin is a professor and doctoral supervisor at the School of Geography and Ocean Science, Nanjing University, and a Distinguished Professor of the Changjiang Scholar Program of the Ministry of Education. He currently serves as the University Librarian of Nanjing University, Director of the Center for Human Geography Research at Nanjing University, Director of the Key Laboratory of Carbon Neutrality and Territorial Space Optimization of the Ministry of Natural Resources, Vice President of the China Land Science Society, Vice President of the China Society of Natural Resources and Chairman of its Education Working Committee, and Chief Scientist of the Jiangsu Provincial Green Development Research Base.

Professor Huang has long been engaged in research on land economy and policy, resource and environmental economics, and territorial spatial planning. He has led more than 20 major projects, including those supported by the Major Program of the National Social Science Fund of China, the National Science and Technology Support Program, the Public Welfare Industry Special Fund of the Ministry of Natural Resources, and international cooperation programs. He has published over 150 papers in journals such as Nature CitiesScience AdvancesScience China Earth Sciences, and Xinhua Digest. He proposed the concept of Housing Utilization Efficiency (HUE) and developed a framework for assessing sustainable development in transboundary river basins. He has also authored or edited more than 10 textbooks and monographs, including Theory of Farmland PricesLand Economics, and Land Policy Studies. He has twice received awards from the Fok Ying Tung Education Foundation and has won first and second prizes for scientific and technological progress or outstanding achievements in philosophy and social sciences at the provincial/ministerial level on ten occasions. He has led or participated in the formulation of multiple policy recommendations and standards related to territorial spatial planning and land management system reform.
