
Xinyu Chen, Professor, School of Electrical Engineering, Huazhong University of Science and Technology (HUST); Adjunct Professor, School of Management, HUST; Director, Power and Energy System Transition Center, HUST; Recipient of the National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars; Visiting Researcher, Harvard University. Bachelor's and Ph.D. degrees from the Department of Electrical Engineering, Tsinghua University; formerly served as Lecturer at Harvard University and other positions. Important academic appointments include Chair of the Low-Carbon Energy Systems and Policy Working Group, Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE); Vice Chair of the Low-Carbon Power Technology Subcommittee, IEEE; Editorial Board Member of IET journals, etc. Research directions include electricity markets, integrated energy systems, renewable energy and its grid integration, energy policy, and load forecasting, etc.
Participated in the "China 2030/2050" low-carbon development research at Harvard Global Institute, and strategic research on smart grids at China Southern Power Grid; presided over overseas research projects of State Key Laboratories, projects funded by the National Natural Science Foundation of China, and dispatch and trading planning projects of State Grid Corporation of China and China Southern Power Grid, etc. Published more than 50 journal papers, with multiple papers published as first author or corresponding author in high-level SCI journals including Nature Energy (a subsidiary journal of Nature), Nature Communications, Science Advances (a subsidiary journal of Science), and Joule (a sister journal of Cell), etc., and has been reported by international mainstream media such as The Washington Post and Financial Times.
