
Zhang Bing is Vice President of Nanjing University of Finance and Economics and Director of the Nanjing University–Jiangsu Provincial Department of Environmental Protection Center for Environmental Management and Policy Research. He is primarily engaged in teaching and research on environmental management and policy analysis, as well as environmental economics. He serves on the editorial boards of Journal of Environmental Management, Chinese Journal of Environmental Management, and Journal of Environmental Economics; as Associate Editor of Environmental Management and Environmental and Resource Economics; and as Deputy Director of the Environmental Economics Branch of the Chinese Society for Environmental Sciences, Deputy Director of the Ecological and Environmental Systems Engineering Professional Committee of the Chinese Society of Systems Engineering, and Vice Chairman of the Energy Economics and Management Research Division of the Chinese Society of Optimization, Overall Planning and Economic Mathematics.
Professor Zhang has long been engaged in research on environmental management and policy analysis, and environmental economics. He has led projects including the NSFC Distinguished Young Scholar Fund, NSFC International (Regional) Cooperation and Exchange Program, National Key R&D Program of China, Major Water Pollution Control Program (Water Special Project), and UNEP projects. He has published extensively in journals such as Nature Sustainability, PNAS, American Economic Review, The Quarterly Journal of Economics, American Journal of Political Science, Journal of Public Economics, Journal of Development Economics, Journal of Environmental Economics and Management, Journal of Policy Analysis and Management, and Environmental Science & Technology. He has participated in the formulation of China's pollution discharge permit, emission trading, and environmental information disclosure policies. His research has received first and second prizes of the Science and Technology Award of the Ministry of Environmental Protection, as well as the Zhang Peigang Outstanding Achievement Award in Development Economics.
