
Chen Yunsong, Professor of Sociology and Doctoral Supervisor at Nanjing University, Leading Talent in Philosophy and Social Sciences under the National Special Support Program for High-Level Talents (2024), Changjiang Scholar Young Scholar of the Ministry of Education (2018), Chief Expert of the first batch of Philosophy and Social Sciences Innovation Teams of the Ministry of Education, and Chief Expert of Major Projects of the National Social Science Fund of China (NSSFC). He also serves as Deputy Secretary-General of the Chinese Sociological Association, President of the Computational Sociology Association of China, International Advisor to Sociology (the journal of the British Sociological Association), Editorial Board Member of Social Science Research, Chinese Sociological Review, and other renowned journals, and Editor-in-Chief of Journal of Social Sciences.
He has long been engaged in research on computational sociology, social networks and social capital, social mentality and governance. He has presided over NSSFC Major Projects including "Development Patterns and Guidance Strategies of Big Data-Driven Online Social Mentality" (concluded with excellence) and "Social Risk Assessment and Response Based on Data-Intelligent Methods from the Perspective of National Governance". He has published numerous papers in top domestic and international journals such as Social Sciences in China, Sociological Studies, Chinese Public Administration, The China Quarterly, British Journal of Sociology, Poetics, Social Networks, and Social Science Research. He has led the Chinese translation of the Oxford Dictionary of Sociology and has published multiple books with Routledge, Palgrave Macmillan, and The Commercial Press. He has received the Second Prize of Outstanding Achievements in Philosophy and Social Sciences from the Ministry of Education, the First Prize of Outstanding Achievements in Philosophy and Social Sciences of Jiangsu Province (twice), as well as the first "Young Scholar Award" of the China Urban 100 Forum jointly conferred by the Chinese Academy of Sciences, the Chinese Academy of Engineering, and the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences.
